Terrifying 3 just got North American distribution thanks to Cineverse Corp. There is a lot of hype around this horror franchise because the sequel, Terrifying 2, was a huge success. The movie was made on a budget of $250,000 and went on to make over $15 million! As you can imagine, the next film will have a wide theatrical release.

President and CEO of Cineverse Chris McGurk said in a statement:

“It got revenues around 60 times the cost of production and was fueled almost exclusively by social marketing. We are thrilled that Damien and Phil have chosen to stay true to the franchise and keep the film uncut and independent of the studio’s journey. Our goal is to make this film the centerpiece of our release strategy, which is focused on creator-friendly collaboration to generate fan-favorite franchises and remakes that work in theaters and drive streaming subscription revenue. This time, we are planning a wide theatrical release for ‘Terrifier 3’ as we are confident that the film will deliver another unparalleled horror experience. We look forward to the creative vision Damien and Phil will unleash on audiences when we bring ‘Terrifier 3’ to the big screen in Fall 2024.”

THE Terrifer the films are written and directed by Damian Leo and while talking about how Terrifying 3 will build out of Terrifying 2He said:

“Once I figured out what part two was, I knew it was going to be at least a trilogy, so I’ve been working on it since I completed part two. Even as I was writing part two, I actually had scenes that I had already written for part three because I knew where it was going to go. I want to go back a bit to the tone of Part 1, which felt a little more simplistic and old school, gritty slasher. I want this to go back in that direction and I want this to be the scariest of the trilogy. This one will actually have a bit more of an evil undertone to it, so hopefully it will be the scariest and darkest. I want it to feel like the audience going into this movie isn’t as comfortable with Art the Clown as they feel now. I want to see if I can get them to actually scare him again.

The director then went on to talk about the pressure of overcoming the second film’s horrific amounts of gore and gore with Terrifying 3 :

“Sometimes there are sleepless nights where, ‘Oh my God, I can’t let the fans of this franchise down.’ They always come to expect the next big kill scene, the next big gory bit. How am I going to get past the now infamous hacksaw scene in part one and now the second movie? I get asked at conventions, ‘How are you going to get past the bedroom scene?’ I always want to swing for the fences and try to see if I can outdo myself from the previous installment.

“There was actually a kill that I was going to put in Terrifier that happened to Jenna Kanell’s character Tara. After the hacksaw scene, there was another torture scene. I knew putting them back to back would completely lose the audience as it would be too much to handle. So that was a kill that I kept on the back burner… I didn’t even put it in the second half. So that’s what I might explore. But there’s another one I thought of about a month ago, where he snapped and I said, “That’s going to be the next bedroom murder scene” — you’ll know when you see it. I can’t say for sure that I’ll ever get over any of these scenes – it’s always going to be subjective – but you’ll know it when you see it.

There are no plot details to share yet, but the sadistic Art the Clown will be back to brutally killing people. David Howard Thorton will return to play Arte again, and will be joined by Lauren LaVera. It has also been revealed that Terrifying 3 will have a much bigger budget to work with.

Priscilla Smith of The Coven said, “This time around there will be a much bigger budget, which is meant to give the filmmakers more creative freedom and let them be as wild as possible. And, seriously, we’re going for that Oscar this year.

Leo added: “Terrifying 3 will be another groundbreaking addition to the horror genre, continuing the no-holds-barred, uncompromising exploits that fans of the franchise have come to expect and celebrate. If you thought Art the Clown’s reign of terror in Part Two was extreme, you haven’t seen anything yet.

So get ready for another crazy and grotesque one Terrifying movie!
