Roadside Films has released the trailer for a drama film set in the 1940s The new boy, set in Australia. The film is the protagonist Cate Blanchette as a renegade nun who watches over a nine-year-old Aboriginal orphan who arrives in the middle of the night at a remote monastery.
The synopsis says “the boy’s presence disturbs the delicately balanced world in this story of spiritual struggle and the cost of survival.”
The film was directed by Warwick Thornton and looks like a well done film. I’m not entirely sure what’s going on in the story, but it seems somehow intriguing. Blanchette called it an “amazing story”.
The director spoke about the film saying: “The idea for this little boy’s story has been in my imagination for a long time. Kath and I are beyond excited to be working with Cate and the Dirty Films mob to bring him to the big screen where he belongs.
The film is also the protagonist Aswan Reid like the boy, Deborah PostinoAND Wayne Blair. Roadside Films will distribute the film starting July 6, 2023.
