There are many people who really liked it Jason Momoit’s ridiculous exaggerated performance in Fast Xbut you know who apparently didn’t like it? Vin Diesel. He wasn’t happy with his portrayal of the character, and it might not be for the reason you think it is.
RadarOnline is reporting that Diesel is blaming Momoa for Fast XThe terrible reviews where critics and fans criticize the movie for its silly plot and wacky action. The report goes on to say that Diesel isn’t happy with Momoa being praised as the film’s only bright spot.
A source said, “Vin is embarrassed that Jason has been labeled the only bright spot in the film and is stealing the show in the franchise he built himself.” Insiders are also saying that Diesel is telling people that Momoa’s “over the top” and “scene-stealing” nature was a factor in the negative reviews and undermined the film.
The report goes on to note that Momoa knows how Diesel is feeling, but it is unknown if this will lead to any changes in the future.
If Diesel was really displeased with Momoa, why didn’t he change direction during the filming of the film? Director Louis Letterier he said the character Dante was created about him and Momoa making each other laugh and also trying to make Diesel laugh, and they could never break it. He said:
“[Jason Momoa and I] we met in this film and realized that making each other laugh was a great way to create Dante. So we rewrote the dialogue together. I’d say, “You should say charming” and then we’d add, “Very mean dad.” So we really enjoyed making each other laugh, and the extra point, the wild card of our game, was making Vin laugh and go out of character like Dom Toretto.
“We tried really hard. Like when Dante calls Dom ‘asshole’, but Vin is so focused when he’s on set that it was impossible. And when we called cut, Vin was like, ‘Oh boy, you tried really hard! ‘ So we were like kids on set and it was absolutely fun.”
So, I guess Diesel could also blame the director for Momoa’s character portrayal. Regardless, Leterrier was asked to come back and direct the sequel, so Diesel must have been OK with what he did with the film.
Then, of course, there’s the possibility that nothing in this report is true. What do you think of this recent report?
