We have some important and fun gaming hardware news to cover. Let us know what hardware news you’re most excited about, and if we missed anything. The first news to share was the recent reveal of Sony’s new handheld, codenamed Project Q. It’s designed so that the two sides are basically a DualSense controller, but then the middle is replaced with an 8-inch screen. It’s meant to be a device where you stream non-VR games from your PS5 so you can play games God of War: Ragnarok while you poop. Unfortunately, we don’t have any information regarding pricing or availability, although Sony has said that more information will be available soon. They’ve also announced new gaming headsets, but I don’t think they’re very exciting since we know next to nothing about them.
Next up is EON Gaming’s XBHD. This is a plug-and-play adapter that lets you connect your original Xbox console to your modern TV via HDMI. It actually looks pretty cool as it offers dual HD video output for head-to-head matches or to streamline your streaming setup. There are also three RJ45 Ethernet ports allowing for easy connection of up to 4 Xbox consoles to get back to the ultimate LAN party. If that excites you, you can take your XBHD starting June 20 (Note: Since this was written, EON has encountered a “production hiccup” and XBHD’s launch has been delayed. More information should be coming soon) for $189.99 from Amazon, Castlemania Games, Games Connection, and Retro Saga. Here are the main features:
-
Perfectly translated HD images without delays
-
Clean and silent Dual HD video output
-
Three Ethernet ports for seamless LAN support for 4 consoles
-
MiniToslink audio output
-
No power cords or additional hardware are required
