The teenage drama Dawson Creek ran for six seasons from 1998 to 2003. It jumpstarted the careers of its major young cast members, including James Van der Beek, Katie Holmes, Joshua Jacksonand Academy Award winner Michael Williams. It was a hit show for teens and fans of the genre, and its fan base stuck, hoping for a reunion or a reboot one day.

As it turns out, Katie Holmes confirmed during an interview as part of the Kering Women in Motion talks (via Variety) in Cannes that several discussions have taken place regarding the reboot of the series.

“There have been many discussions over the years. We all loved the experience. There is a protection that accompanies the discussion. The show was a time capsule. Putting that in today’s world might tarnish it a bit. It was right before everyone had a phone and social media and everything, so there was an innocence between the characters that was one of the things I think people liked about the show. To fit that into today’s world setting, I’m not sure.

She continued:

“We talked about it often. For now, let’s just keep saying that until there’s a real reason to do it, it hasn’t been something where people have said, ‘That’s the take on it.’”

It’s nice to know that no one is pushing it forward just to make money. None of these actors need it. It seems that if a good sequel is written one day, the cast might be on board to reunite, but that’s not going to happen anytime soon. I will watch it if it ever joins. You’d be down for a Dawson Creek restart?
