A short new clip from Spider-Man: Through the Spider-Verse is making the rounds on social media and features the villain Spot opening a portal to the live-action universe of Poison where he robs Ms. Chen’s character from those movies. The creative team is definitely having a blast with this franchise and I wonder what else we’ll see! Watch the clip!

The sequel follows Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) as he is “immersed in the multiverse where he joins forces with Gwen Stacy and a new team of Spider-folk to take on a villain more powerful than anything they’ve ever encountered.”

After reuniting with Gwen Stacy, “the friendly Brooklyn neighborhood Spider-Man is catapulted across the Multiverse, where he meets a team of Spider-People charged with protecting his very existence. But when the heroes clash over how to handle a new threat, Miles finds himself pitted against the other Spiders and must redefine what it means to be a hero so he can save the people he loves most.

The film will consist of 240 characters, and the cast also includes Hailee Steinfeld like Gwen, Brian Tiree Henry as Miles’ father, Jefferson Davis; Luna Lauren Velez as Miles’ mom, Rio Morales; Issa Rae as Jessica Drew, aka Spider-Woman; Jorma Taccone as Vulture; Rachel Dratch; Shea Whigham; Greta Lee; AND Jason Schwartzmann as the villain Spot. Andy Samberg he also recently joined the cast.

The film will also introduce multiple universes including Gwen’s Earth-65, with its signature watercolor palette; India-inspired Mumbattan; Nueva York, the home of Oscar Isaacof Spider-Man 2099, aka Miguel O’Hara; the punk New London, inhabited by Daniel Kaluyaby Hobart “Hobie” Brown, aka Spider-Punk; and then there is a secret fifth dimension that is kept well hidden for now.

The film is directed and produced by Justin K Thompson, Joaquim Dos SantosAND Kemp Powers. Avi Arad, Amy Pascal, Phil Lord, Chris Miller AND Christine Steinberg they are also producing. Lord and Miller will also be credited as screenwriters on the film, along with David Callaham.

The film will be released on June 2, 2023!
