Everything everywhere all at once swept awards season this year, taking home Oscars for Best Picture, Best Screenplay, Best Actor, Best Actress and Supporting Actress, Best Director, and more. It was a great movie, but the only downside to Hollywood is that when a movie is this big, there’s always at least an argument that the studio can make a sequel out of the original just to make more money.
But it seems the film’s participants are keeping a cool head that this was a one-shot story, and it needs nothing more.
Winner of Best Actress Michelle Yeoh recently sat with Varietywhere she was asked about this possibility, and she said:
“There’s no sequel. You know, it’s one of those movies where it’s — we’d just do the same thing. We’ve already fought the greatest enemy, which is ourselves sometimes, within us. And we’ve got the message out of how we’re going to do it, and I remembered that each of you is a superhero, because we all inherently have the superpower of love, compassion and kindness. We don’t need a cape to be a superhero. We can do it every day, every time we choose to, then no [sequel].”
Could not agree more! Everything everywhere all at once is available to watch on Showtime.
