Cinderella is the latest classic fairy tale to get the bloody horror movie treatment. That Winnie The Pooh: Blood and Honey The movie sort of started this thing of taking these classic kid characters and building super low budget horror movies around them!
The next film will be titled The Curse of Cinderellaand will be developed at ChampDog Films with Louise Warren direction and production. The screenplay of the film is written by Harry Boxley (Mary has a little lamb). The cast includes Kelly Rian Sanson, Chrissie Wunna, AND Daniel Scott.
Louisa Warren spoke to Bloody-Disgusting about the film and said, “This is an incredibly unique take on the Cinderella we all love and know. There will be some truly horrific deaths at her hands. I think gore hounds will have a blast in my dark reimagining.
The current Cinderella fairy tale contains some pretty horrific stuff, so it looks like it will fit right into the horror genre. Cinderella includes several dark and disturbing elements woven into her narrative. It has elements of cruelty, abuse, isolation, confinement, violence and mutilation. At one point, Cinderella’s stepsisters go to great lengths to fit into the glass slipper, resorting to cutting off parts of their feet or toes. The gruesome act of self-mutilation for slipper’s sake is a horrific element!
Shooting will begin next month in the UK and ITN Studios will release the film in October 2023.
