Sydney Sweeney talks MADAME WEB and teases a ‘badass powerhouse’

Sydney Sweeney (Euphoria) recently spoke about his excitement about being a part of Sony Pictures’ next Marvel movie Ms Web. She plays next door Dakota Johnsonwho plays the lead role of Cassandra Webb, a crippled clairvoyant whose abilities allow her to see into the “spider world”, and I hope this film tells an interesting and interesting story about the character’s origins.

Speaking to Empire, Sweeny, who will play Julia Carpenter, aka the second Spider-Woman in the film, shared, “I couldn’t be more excited. I can’t wait to talk about it.” While she won’t actually share any details, she added, “I can’t wait to be able to be next to the girls I’ve filmed with: Dakota, Isabela and Celeste. We had so much fun together. And I’m really excited that it will just be a mix of badass women for the world to see.”

The supporting cast for the film includes Isabella Merced, Emma Roberts, Celeste O’Connor, Tahar Rahim, Mike Epps, Zosia Mamet, AND Adam Scott.

Sweeney went on to talk about superhero movies and how much her family loved taking her to see them when she was growing up. She said, “Superheroes have been my whole life! Those [films] they are everything my parents wanted to go and see. I think I saw The Avengers probably 20, more than 30 times. My family, they love [them]… I couldn’t have made them happier by choosing to do that project [Madame Web].”

In the comics, Madame Web is an elderly blind woman named Cassandra Webb, who “suffers from a chronic neuromuscular disease that makes it difficult to move and breathe, and as such is hooked up to a life support system that looks like a spider’s web. The clairvoyant character she has precognitive abilities and once helped Spider-Man find a kidnapping victim.

Ms Web is currently scheduled to be released in the United States on February 16, 2024. Can’t wait to watch this movie?
