Jackie Chan in talks to return new KARATE KID film to Sony

Last year it was announced that Sony will come out with a new film The karate kid franchise. Now the word is that actor Jackie Chan is in talks to return to film to play the character of Mr. Han, which he played in the 2010 remake/reboot. Discuss Cinema reports that the 69-year-old martial arts legend will join the project if negotiations are finalized.

Jonathan Entwistle he’s on board to direct the film, and has already directed and produced the series I’m not okay with this AND The end of the fucking world.

The karate kid movie Chan starred Dre Parker, a 12-year-old previously followed (Jaden Smith) who moves to China and finds himself like a fish out of water. When he starts getting bullied by the local kids, Mr. Han steps in to teach Dre the art of Kung Fu.

There’s no word on whether this new film will see Smith return to the franchise, and we haven’t heard any solid story details, but it seems that if Chan does officially sign on, we’ll know more soon.
