Emmy and Golden Globe winning actor Eddie Murphy (Coming 2 America, Shrek franchise) is shooting a new Pink Panther film in early development at the Amazon-owned MGM Studios. Pink Panther is an iconic comedy-mystery franchise created for MGM by Blake Edwardswhich chronicles the investigations of the inept Inspector Jacques Clouseau, who previously made 11 films, along with numerous series and specials.
While it’s still unclear who will write and direct the new film, Dan Lin, Julie Andrews, Larry MirischAND Jonathan Eric are on board the project as producers.
“Murphy is expected to play the role of Clouseau, which was created in the 1960s by three-time Academy Award nominee Peter Sellers and later played by Emmy winner Steve Martin starting in the early 2000s. A source close to Murphy described the project as a natural fit for the actor, who has long admired Sellers’ comedic performances.
