It must be quite an experience for anyone to have the rare opportunity to play in Star Wars universe. Director Roberto Rodríguez was brought in Star Wars fold and directed an episode of The Mandalorian Season 2 as well as executive producer Boba Fett’s book. He also directed three episodes of it. As you can imagine, she loved his experience with him!
During a recent interview with Total Film and GamesRadar+, Rodriguez was asked about Rodriguez Boba Fett’s bookand reflecting on his experience developing it, he said:
“I really enjoyed working on that, and The Mandalorian was just the most fun I could have ever made. Because, plus, it was right during COVID. No one was filming, so I would have sat at home, and instead I had to go play with Star Wars characters. [Laughs] It was just a blast. John Favreau and Dave Filoni were just the best partners, they came up with all these amazing stories.”
Rodriguez went on to talk about how working on these projects made him feel like a kid and the magic that came with being involved in these Star Wars projects:
“He felt like a kid, but the magic doesn’t go away. Even if you know how it’s done, you see the puppets and you see the strings, it blows your mind. It’s all from the world. They have so many performers who were in the original films of Star Wars that doesn’t lose its looks. And so you could walk onto a set and you’d feel like you were right there. I wouldn’t trade that for anything. It was super fun, super exciting.”
While it’s great to hear that Rodriguez had a blast playing in Star Wars sandbox, most fans seem to agree that all the episodes he’s directed have been the worst in the shows he’s worked on. I’ll be honest, I expected more from him.
Rodriguez has made some great movies and one of his best was Alita: Battle Angel. He also confirmed in the interview that he’s been in talks James Cameron AND Jon Landau for a Alita: Battle Angel Continuation.
