Emma Roberts is set to star in a new comedy film project titled Hot pie. The film is described as a “witty” and “fresh” story following “a woman who finds her place in a world ruled by social media and outsized expectations”.
Robert plays Laurel Mack in the film who, “after imploding in the worst possible way on a hugely popular American dating show, must take the last walk of shame…to return to her hometown. Having failed to win love on the show, she finds herself living in her parents’ extravagant basement, friendless, constantly running into the miserable ex that the whole town adores, while enduring the constant teasing of everyone who witnessed to its public collapse. She embarks on an exhilarating and heartfelt journey of discovering her self-love and, with that, true connections to others.
It seems like the perfect kind of movie for Roberts. He tends to jump on board interesting projects, and this is the kind of film that will play to his strengths.
The film will be directed by Katie Locke O’Brien from a script written by Gabrielle D’Amico. The film is produced by Debbie Liebling, Maggie Malina AND Laura Lewis are producing the project and shared in a joint statement:
