James “Rhodey” Rhodes aka War Machine has played a major role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe over the years, but the character will finally take center stage in his own solo film with Armored wars. The character’s arc will resume in the next one Secret invasion Disney+ series, which will be followed by Armored wars.
During a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Don Cheadle teased how his character will be explored in the Marvel film, explaining that for the first time we’ll see what drives Rhodey. He said:
“The fun part is that we’ll continue to explore Rhodey and, somehow for the first time, get to see what makes him tick. We understand his physical challenges, but we haven’t delved into much of his emotional and psychological yet.” [challenges].”
We don’t know much about Marvel’s adaptation of Armored wars, or the story it will tell. But we know it will be a sequel to Secret invasionThat Yassir Lester is writing the script and Cheadle will be joined by Walton Gogginswho is returning to reprise his role of Sonny Burch from Ant-Man and the Wasp.
Armored wars it was originally planned as a series, but was reworked as a film because the studio was committed to “telling the story right and in that process they realized a film was more suited to the project.”
Marvel producer Nate Moore (Captain America Civil War, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever) previously open about why Armored wars is the kind of project that needs to be a film rather than a series, saying:
“When you talk about a show that wants to see all the cool suits of armor and Don Cheadle interacting with all these suits of armor and, in a way, the legacy of Tony Stark? It’s become cost-prohibitive to do as a show.”
We don’t have a release date yet, but you’re excited about this Armored wars movie?
