Director Andy Muschietti has started production Welcome to Derrywhich is the prequel series to Stephen King IT. The series is set in the world of Stephen King’S IT universe, and “is based on King’s novel ‘It’ and expands on the vision established by the director in the two IT feature films.

The photo features an image that confirms that the Chief of Police in this era is Clint Bowers. Clint is most likely related to Oscar “Butch” Bowers, who is a member of the Derry Police Department, and his son Henry Bowers, who is the bully and terror of The Losers Club.

There are no details on who exactly Clint Bowers is, but perhaps he is Oscar’s father. We also don’t know what role he’ll play in the story, but since this is the first image Muschietti has shared, he must have a decent sized role in the show.

The cast of the series includes Taylor Paige (Zola, black background by Ma Rainey), Jovan Adepo (Babylon, Guardians), Chris Gesso (Perry Mason, All dirt roads taste like salt), James Remar (Oppenheimer, Megalopolis), Magdalene Stowe (12 Monkeys, The Last of the Mohicans, Revenge) AND Stefano Cavaliere (Reckless).

The series was developed by the showrunners Jason Fuchs (En: Chapter II) AND Brad Caleb Kane (Vice of Tokyo), who will also executive produce the series.

Talking earlier about the mythology of the story, Muschietti said, “There’s a whole mythology in the book though… Mythology is something that always has opportunities to explore. It [aka Pennywise] it has been on Earth for millions of years. It has been in contact with humans for hundreds of years, every 27 years. So you can imagine the amount of material. It’s always exciting to think about eventually exploring this mythology. It’s very exciting. But, for now, there’s nothing on the table.”

While unconfirmed, I think the series will tell the story of The Black Spot, which was an important location in Derry that is talked about in Stephen King’s films and novel. The Black Spot was a nightclub founded by Mike Hanlon’s father Will and some of his friends. It was a place for black soldiers from the nearby army base to go.

The Black Stain was razed by Maine’s Legion of White Decency. One of the people inside was a young Dick Hallorann’s The brilliant, who worked in the club kitchen. Hallorann made it out alive and eventually ended up working at the Overlook Hotel where he ultimately met his death.

There are some great prequel stories to tell with Pennywise because the shapeshifting creature has been in Derry, killing people for a long time. “He came to Earth in a huge cataclysmic event similar to an asteroid impact, landing in a location in North America that would eventually become Derry, Maine. Once people settled in this place, she adopted her usual 27-30 year hibernation pattern, waking up to kill and eat. Each awakening and return to hibernation is sometimes marked by a violent act, such as a mass murder or a weather event. Meanwhile, a series of child murders in Derry are never solved. It is outwardly explained that a series of murders, no matter how gruesome, go unreported if they happen in the small town. However, the real reason is that It’s influence prevents anyone from delving too deeply.

Can’t wait to watch this series?
