It seems that Paramount Pictures is looking to develop another one GI Joe movie. The news comes from the franchised manufacturer Lawrence of Bonaventurewhich reveals that the new film was born out of a failed attempt to make a GI Joe series.

During a recent interview with Collider, di Bonaventura revealed that he and a creative team have been attempting to develop the TV series with Amazon Studios and Paramount Pictures. When that project fell apart, the producer said he refocused on making another film. Lorenzo di Bonaventura said:
“We actually developed a pilot project with Amazon. This was before Paramount+, just as Paramount+ was coming. It did not work. We’re having a lot of discussions about what to do with it as a film, and so I would have to say you’ll most likely see it come to fruition. How long is always impossible to say. There have been no active conversations for a long time. There is a lot to do right now.
The last attempt to do a GI Joe the movie was with 2021 Snake-eyeswhich was a decent attempt, but still failed to reach the beauty of a GI Joe movie could and should be.
It amazes me that they still haven’t figured out how to run this franchise. It seriously should be a huge and successful franchise, but the studio and creative team are doing it the wrong way. I know exactly what they have to do! But apparently they won’t take ideas from fans.
But hey! Perhaps with this next attempt, they will succeed! Right!?
