The new Paramount+ series Fatal Attraction is putting a twist on the 1987 blockbuster. The show will explore two timelines, one of which chronicles the life of Dan Gallagher after spending years in prison for the murder of Alex Forrest. hollywood life spoke EXCLUSIVELY with alyssa jirrells AND amanda pet about Ellen and Beth forming relationships with Dan after his release from prison.
“I think it’s a very complicated and very charged experience for her,” Alyssa said. hollywood life. “I think initially it’s the shock of the cellular experience of seeing that person for the first time, but I think all the while they’re testing their character. I think she has a desire to push him away and a desire to be in control and get back at him in some way. For me, I’ve always felt that she had a deep loyalty and love for him and always supported him over the years, but it’s not quite safe to experience that until she’s been tested.
The situation is equally complex for Beth, Dan’s ex-wife. Their family was torn apart after Dan cheated on Beth with Alex Forrest. “I think even in Beth’s case it’s very complicated. There’s a lot of resentment and a lack of trust, but I also think she feels sorry for him,” Amanda said. She also added that Beth and Dan “will try to deal with the distance of the past years of not speaking together” .
In the critically acclaimed 1987 film starring near Glenn AND michael douglas, Ellen’s character was just a girl. In the TV series, Alyssa is given the opportunity to basically create an entirely new character through the adult version of Ellen in the current timeline.
“I think if there had been a really developed version of Ellen in the original, I would have been a bit haunted at this stage,” Alyssa admitted. “But she was a really nice powerhouse, whether it’s a remake or not, she’s a great character and the writing is very good. It was a gift to be able to walk through and follow that arc with her and explore its full depth.”
Fatal Attraction will debut April 30 on Paramount+ with the first 3 episodes. Thereafter, new episodes will be released on a weekly basis.
