Andy Samberg Joins SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE in Mystery Role, Two Posters Released

Andy Samberg joined the voice cast of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse in a mysterious role. The news was shared on the Instagram account of his comedy/music group The Lonely Island. Samberg will star opposite fellow Lonely Island member Jorma Tacconewhose casting was announced last summer.

Taccone will play the Renaissance-themed variant of villain Adrian Toomes/Vulture. It is not known who will play Samberg, but the director Joaquim Dos Santos previously teased that the film includes secret cameos that not even the cast is aware of.

One character teased by the director was Scarlet Spider, a clone from the comics. He said, “I can’t wait for people to hear who voices him. He hasn’t been released yet, but I love our Scarlet Spider actor.” Maybe it’s Samberg, but it really could be anyone since the film features 240 characters.

The film follows Miles Morales as the friendly Brooklyn neighborhood Spider-Man, “immersed in the multiverse where he joins forces with Gwen Stacy and a new team of Spider-folk to take on a villain more powerful than anything they’ve ever encountered.” .

After reuniting with Gwen Stacy, “the friendly Brooklyn neighborhood Spider-Man is catapulted across the Multiverse, where he meets a team of Spider-People charged with protecting his very existence. But when the heroes clash over how to handle a new threat, Miles finds himself pitted against the other Spiders and must redefine what it means to be a hero so he can save the people he loves most.

The cast also includes Shameik Moore as Miles Morales, Hailee Steinfeld like Gwen, Brian Tiree Henry as Miles’ father, Jefferson Davis; Luna Lauren Velez as Miles’ mom, Rio Morales; Issa Rae as Jessica Drew, aka Spider-Woman; Rachel Dratch; Shea Whigham; Greta Lee; AND Jason Schwartzmann like Blur.

The film will be released on June 2, 2023!
