1. Candy was accused of killing her friend Betty Gore.

On June 13, 1980, Betty Gore was found dead in her Texas home. She died after being hit with an ax 41 times. Police soon turned their attention to Candy Montgomery, a family friend of hers. There has been some debate as to what exactly happened in that house that led to Betty’s death, but she Candy would later claim she acted in self-defense after she Betty attempted to attack her first. 2. Candy had an affair with Betty’s husband.
