Steven Spielberg loved INDIANA JONES 5 and told the director “Damn! I thought I just knew how to make one”

Steven Spielberg saw a completed cut of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, the fifth installment in the fan-favorite adventure series and recently shared his thoughts on the film. Spielberg was only an executive producer this time with The Wolverine AND Ford versus Ferrari director James Mangold assume management duties. Speaking about the film at the Time 100 Summit, Spielberg said:

“I just had that experience two nights ago. Bob Iger did a screening for many Disney executives and I came to the screening with director James Mangold. Everyone loved the movie. It’s a really, really good Indiana Jones movie. I’m really proud of what Jim has done with it.

Spielberg added, “When the lights came on, I turned to the group and said, ‘Damn! I thought I was the only one who knew how to do one of these.

It’s great to know that Spielberg loved the movie! The boy has been involved in this franchise from the beginning, so his opinion of him is important and this is the first time that he has been able to watch the film as a viewer and not as a director. I wonder if George Lucas has already seen the film or if he is interested in watching it.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny picks up with famed archaeologist Harrison Ford in 1969 as he is drawn into another grand adventure involving Voller, a NASA member and former Nazi involved in the moon landing program, who wants to “rectify the world and make it a better place as he believes appropriate.” He is trying to correct the mistakes Hitler made when he was in power with the Dial of Destiney artifact.

The film is the protagonist Harrison Ford, Mads Mikkelsen (one more round), Phoebe Waller Bridge (Lots of fleas), Boyd Holbrook (Logano), Shaunette Renee Wilson (The resident), AND Thomas Kretschmann (The Avengers: Age of Ultron).

The film will be released in theaters on June 30, 2023.
