In the recent State of the Press, Darrington Press announced that it will be attending GenCon 2023 as well as three new upcoming games. They have also provided updates for previously announced projects, so let’s break it down.

Mark Hamill and his Return of the Jedi helix lightsaber reunite in Pop Culture Quest Clip
First of all, Queen at midnightfrom Critical roleown manufacturer Kyle Shire, is a game where you play as mighty princesses fighting in a magical free-for-all game to become the queen at midnight. This will be a deck building game that will feature a really cool clock tower. The tower will have spinning hands to keep track of rounds, is used as a location for the bazaar where you can buy cards for your deck, and will act as a dice tower for all your rolling needs. The artwork looks really cool and each princess will have a unique style of play. I’m not a huge fan of deck building games, but this one looks really cool, so I might have to check it out. It will be launched in August 2023.
Illuminated worldscreated by Stras Ashimovic AND Layla Councilor, is a new RPG system based on a D6 dice pool. It’s designed for shorter, arc-driven campaigns, and can be used for any setting you can think of. There will be more details revealed later, but it should be interesting to see exactly how this works.
It hasn’t been talked about much Dagger, another new RPG system. This is designed for longer campaigns and character progression. What exactly that means in terms of gameplay I have no idea, but I’m very intrigued.
The previously announced Marriage Guardiansa fantastic wedding planning game originally designed for Matthew Mercer AND Marisha Ray, will officially release in early 2024, with more details on the project available closer to launch. Furthermore, The Chronicles of Exandria I: The Story of Vox MachinaAND The Chronicles of Exandria II: The Legend of Vox Machina the art books are both getting reprints under the banner of Darrington Press.
Queen at midnight, Enlightened worldAND Dagger they will all be available to play at GenCon 2023. Be sure to check out Darrington Press if you’re attending this year.
