Alec Baldwin’s “Remnant” Resumes Production in Montana;  New security agents were added to the film after fatal shootings in 2021

As we’ve been telling you all week, the upbeat rust returned to filming in Montana today the Yellowstone Movie Ranch.

Call it a coincidence, but production on the western resumes just as the state of New Mexico officially drops its involuntary manslaughter charges against producer and star Alec Baldwin.

The production featured the addition of new crew members, including safety officers Gary Jensen and Paul Jordan (Tenet Production Safety), EP/MP Stephen Marinaccio (Jack Ryan) and production designer Christine Brandt (card counter).

repeating rust Filmmaker Joel Souza, who suffered a shoulder injury from the prop gun fire that Baldwin stopped in October 2021, said in a statement: “While this is bittersweet, I am grateful that a brilliant and dedicated new production team at the former cast and crew joined. what Halyna and I started. All my efforts on this film will be focused on honoring Halyna’s legacy and making her proud. The beauty of Montana is beyond words, and the warm hospitality and kindness of everyone I met was both humbling and inspiring. It’s a privilege to work with such great partners as we do on behalf of Halyna.”

Melina Spadone, attorney for Rust Movie Productions, said in today’s press release that she expects production to wrap up by the end of May. “Production will continue to use unionized crew members and prohibit any use of working weapons and ammunition of any kind. Live ammunition is – and always has been – banned on set. Each of us is wholeheartedly committed to making Halyna’s vision a reality and paying tribute to her artistry,” the lawyer added.

The logline for the film, written by Souza based on a story developed by the director and Baldwin, reads: “A 13-year-old boy left to support himself and his younger brother after the death of his parents in Kansas in the 1880s, is taken on a violent, disturbing journey to ancient Mexico by his long-estranged grandfather after he is sentenced to death by hanging for accidentally killing a local farmer.

It was announced today that Patrick Scott McDermott (Chicago Med, South Side) plays the role of Lucas Hollister in the film.

As Deadline first told you, Hutchin’s widower Matthew Hutchins is an EP about the revived feature and a documentary about his late cinematographer. It was part of Hutchins’ settlement with him rust producers. Director Rachel Mason and producer Julee Metz are working on this doc. Both Mason and Metz were good friends with Halyna Hutchins. Terrence Malick’s producer Grant Hill is overseeing the production Rust 2.0.

Cinematographer Bianca Cline (Marcel wears the shell with shoes) completes the production that Hutchins started. She will donate her salary to a charity in honor of Halyna.

The original crew returning with Souza to complete the film include Allan Graf (stunt coordinator), Terese Davis (costume designer) and Anna Williams (head of hair department).
