It was recently reported that Adam Driver he was in talks to play the role of Reed Richards in the upcoming Marvel Fantastic Four movie. “In fact, I hear Driver has the offer. But this is what we talked about, I think it was 5 months ago, it was the first name that we, or potentially anyone seriously anyway, linked to the Fantastic Four. I’d heard he’d…picked Reed. I mentioned Doctor Doom too, but he basically played Doctor Doom in Star Wars before.
So, at this point, we’ll just have to wait and see if Driver is ready and willing to board another major franchise after his stint. Star Wars. With the Fantastic Four play a major role in the MCU after they’re introduced, it seems like taking on a role like this is going to be a huge commitment for him, bigger than his commitment to Star Wars.
I think Driver would be fine as Richards, and it makes sense that he doesn’t want to play Doom after playing Kylo Ren. Marvel would always look for actors of decent stature for these roles, but I also wouldn’t mind if they cast lesser-known actors.
Kevin Feige previously said that Marvel’s first family will be a big pillar of the future of the MCU after their introduction. He said, “Fantastic Four is the foundation for everything that has come since in comics. There have definitely been versions of it [on screen], but never inhabiting the MCU narrative. And that’s something that’s really exciting for us. People will start hearing about it soon. We plan to be a big mainstay of the MCU in the future, just like they’ve been in the comics for 50 or 60 years.
Marvel producer Stephen Brussard he previously promised that the film will be a true celebration of the comic book source material: “I don’t assume I know everything about that film; I’m not necessarily working on it. But one of the founding principles of Marvel, going back to Iron Man and Tony’s casting that I think resonated today, is to embrace the source material and these comics that have been around forever. They are older than me and I guess they are also older than you. I’ve been around for a while for a reason, [so we] lean on that.
Matt Shakman ( Wanda Vision) is directing the film, and Jodie Comer she is rumored to be in talks to play Sue Storm. Both Driver and Comer have worked together at Ridley Scott movie, The last duel.
