During a recent interview with CB, when asked about the possibility of directing a DC film, Joe Russo responded by saying:

“James over there running it, it would be a no-brainer. We love it to death, we love the direction it’s going to take that world. You know he’s going to be inventive with it.”

The filmmakers also shared that Batman was their favorite DC character of all time and admitted it was an “obvious answer.” There is a new Batman movie in development titled The brave and the daring, but no director is currently attached to the film, so they could actually direct a Batman movie if they just tossed their hat in the ring. If they don’t make a Batman movie, though, there are plenty of other characters to play with if they’ve ever directed a DC movie.

When previously speaking of The brave and the daringGunn shared that he was going to introduce Damian Wayne as Robin, “who is a little motherfucker, murderous killer, who unwittingly assumes, who is the real son of Batman who he doesn’t know exists for the first 8-10 years of the his life, and he brings into his life and that’s a story. It’s kind of a very weird father son story about the two of them. And it’s based on Grant Morrison’s run on Batman. There’s a couple of comic book writers that are been tremendously influential on our stuff and Grant Morrison and Tom King are probably the main two.

The Russos have been doing their thing ever since Game over and have made big-budget movies for Netflix. They are also currently producing a live-action one Hercules movies for Disney. I have no idea if they will ever come back to play in the Marvel sandbox after that Game over. They’ve spent a lot of time playing Marvel and it seems like jumping into DC would be more appealing to them because it’s a different superhero sandbox to play in.

If the Russos ever moved on to DC, what characters would you like to see them play as in a movie?
