Kelly Ripa drowns during Ryan Seacrest’s latest ‘Live’ show: ‘We’ll never say goodbye’



ryan seacrest say goodbye to LIVE with Kelly and Ryan during the April 14 episode of the show. For the last time as regular co-host, Ryan sat next to Kelly Ripa for the ABC morning show. You officially passed the baton to Kelly’s husband, Marco Consuelos, who now joins his wife in the anchor chairs. During Ryan’s final show, he relived some of his best moments from the past six years as co-host of Live. There were various montages of clips during her time on the show. Toward the end of the hour, Kelly took a minute to talk about her co-host, crying as she paid her respects to Ryan.

“This was, hands down, the fastest six years of my life,” Kelly began. “Although you and I have been friends for decades and decades, I feel that through this process I have gained a younger brother and an older son. That’s how I feel about you. I’m so grateful that our success together on this show has led us to develop an even closer, but also codependent relationship.”

He continued his speech by praising Ryan’s work on Live. “On our show, I feel like you have to showcase your immeasurable talents to the world, to our audience, to our viewers,” Kelly said. “And our viewers got to know the you we all know.” Kelly praised Ryan for sharing his “amazing family” with viewers, including his granddaughter, Flora.

“I always jokingly refer to you as an onion with all these layers,” Kelly continued. “But truly, you are an onion in bloom, because you are layer upon layer of kindness, charm, brilliance, authenticity and generosity. Your generosity is incomparable.” Of course, Kelly also teased Ryan about his “satin sheets” and “homemade” coffee, vowing to “troll” him on social media even after he left the show.

In closing, he said: “From the bottom of my heart, from the bottom of all our hearts, we just want to thank you all for being amazing. To be an original and authentic addition to this show. You are forever our family. We will never fire you. We will just say see you soon. And I love you!”

Ryan even took a minute to address Kelly and the audience. “It hasn’t gone unnoticed how lucky I am,” Ryan admitted. “I was lucky to have sat next to you for six years. You are incomparable. There is no one like you. I’m lucky to have this job where I can talk and laugh and make a mess. Lucky to connect with viewers in the US and Canada as well. I’ve spent my entire career talking. Words are my bread and butter. But today it’s hard to put into words how much I’ve enjoyed being here and being with you, being invited into your homes every day to try and get a smile or a laugh or two. I am honored to be part of this family. I am blessed with so many memories. I will treasure and relive these memories forever. There is no place like this on TV. I have to learn this.

He concluded his message with a note to Kelly, adding, “I really appreciate his leadership, his love, his wisdom. I truly feel like a member of the family and we will always have that. I’ll miss you as soon as we say goodbye today.” The show concluded with Mark stepping out to deliver Ryan a cake, and Ryan ceremoniously handing his cup to Mark.

Ryan hosted Live with Kelly since 2017. He joined the show after by Michael Strahan in 2016. For nearly a year, Kelly hosted Live with various guest hosts, including Ryan, before being selected as a full-time host. Ryan announced his departure from Live in February 2023.

The announcement was made on the February 16 episode of the show. “Working alongside Kelly for the past six years has been a dream job and one of the highlights of my career,” admits Ryan. “She has been an incredible companion, friend and confidant, and while we will always be a part of each other’s lives, I will miss our mornings together.”

Ryan and Kelly were lifelong friends even before he became her co-host. Now, Ryan returns to Los Angeles full time where he will focus on his role as american idol guest. The show is expected to begin live shows for its 21st season in the coming weeks. However, she said she would be back Live to fill the role of guest host when needed in the future.
