This is a big deal and it’s funny that NASA is promoting the whole thing as a Hollywood blockbuster. I’m sure an event trailer will follow. I would definitely like to be part of the NASA marketing team right now.

Among the four astronauts who will embark on this space adventure is Commander Reid WisemanPilot Victor GloveMission Specialist I Christina Hammock KochAND Jeremy Hansen as a mission specialist II.

NASA Administrator Bill Nelson told a press conference:

“The Artemis II crew represents thousands of people who work tirelessly to take us to the stars. This is their crew, this is our crew, this is humanity’s crew. NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover and Christina Hammock Koch, and CSA Astronaut Jeremy Hansen, each have their own story, but together, they represent our credo: E pluribus unum – among many, one. Together, we are ushering in a new era of exploration for a new generation of stellar sailors and dreamers – the Artemis Generation.”

The launch will take place next November, so the team has plenty of time to prepare for the mission. The Artemis II mission is expected to last around 10 days, while those of the crew won’t return to the lunar surface – something that will be saved for Artemis III in 2025 – it will be humans who have traveled the farthest in space since Apollo 13 in 1970. This is really strong!
