“Renfield” star Nicolas Cage talks about his regrets about his art

The acting life is not always glamorous. Sometimes you have to sacrifice yourself for the role. Presented for approval was a certain Nicolas Cage, who revealed a great deal of regret caught on film while promoting his latest horror comedy. Renfeldwith Cage as Dracula and Nicholas Hoult as defending champion RM Renfield.

Hoult’s character in it Renfield is an insectivore. It sounds familiar to Cage, who ate a cockroach in his 1988 film. Kiss of the Vampire.

“I would never do it again,” Cage told Yahoo Entertainment. “I’m sorry I even did that.”

In vampire kiss, The Cage character believes he has turned into a vampire. So he takes a leap of faith by walking around New York with false teeth and eating cockroaches. The insect-eating part was a bit of improvisation transformed from a planned sip of a raw egg.

“I saw it as a business decision because if people saw the cockroach going in my mouth… [they] really react,” Cage said. Unfortunately, the scene required one more shot. “I ate [roaches] twice because the director did it for fun,” Cage recalled.

In Renfeld, Hoult comes off easier. The critters his character has to eat are made from food that people normally eat.

“The roaches I was fed were caramel,” Hoult said. “I also had crickets, which was actually quite nice; They were salt-vinegar-flavored or barbecue-smoke-flavored.

Cage may never eat a bug again, but he thinks it’s good for you. Insects for you, but not for me is his motto.

“If you can get rid of your fear, your phobia of eating bugs, you can solve world hunger,” the actor claimed. “High protein, no fat, excellent nutrients, fullness. They are everywhere! But no, that’s not going to happen.”
