RLJE Films has released a trailer for a new take on Mary Shelley Frankenstein titled The angry black girl and her monster. The story centers on a young teenage girl who embarks on a perilous journey to bring her brother back to life after he is murdered.

In the film Vicar (Laya DeLeon Hayes) is “a brilliant teenager who believes that death is a disease that can be cured. After his brother’s sudden and brutal murder, he embarks on a perilous journey to bring him back to life. Inspired by Mary Shelley’s classic Frankenstein, The Angry Black Girl & Her Monster thematically challenges our ideas of life and death.
The film was written and directed by Bomani J. Story, and is said to “create a thrilling story about a family who, despite the terror of systemic pressure, will survive and be reborn.”
The film is also the protagonist Denzel Whitaker, Chad L. Coleman, Reilly Brooke StitchAND Keith Holiday. This film definitely feels like a unique and interesting take on the concept of Frankenstein. It is described as an “emotionally charged creature trait”.
The Angry Black Girl and Her Monster will be released in select theaters and on VOD on June 9, 2023.
