The story of what happened on the Demeter has never been told like this before, and it’s interesting to see Dracula depicted as a bloodthirsty vampire bat-monster.
The film is “based on a single chapter, The Captain’s Diaryfrom Bram Stoker’s classic 1897 novel Dracula. The chapter tells the story of the Russian schooner Demeter, chartered to carry a private cargo – twenty-four unmarked wooden crates – from Carpathia to London. The film will detail the strange events that befell the doomed crew as they attempted to survive the ocean voyage, pursued each night by a terrifying presence aboard the ship. When she finally got close to Whitby Harbour, she was a wreck. There was no trace of the crew.’
The film was directed by Andre Øvredal (The autopsy of Jane Doe, scary stories to tell in the dark) from a script Bragi Schut with a rewrite from Zak Olkewicz (High speed train). He is the protagonist Corey Hawkins (Kong: Skull Island, Walking Dead), Aisling Franciosi, Liam Cunningham, David Dastmalchian, Jon Jon Briones, Stefan KapicicAND Nikolai Nikolaeffwith Javier Botet like Dracula.
