


It’s time to say goodbye to Dr. Maggie Pierce. She is packing her things and getting ready for the next chapter. She still has one more day to go to Gray Sloan, though, and it’s going to be great.
Kai shows up at Amelia’s door in Seattle. They have all day to spend together. Meanwhile, Bailey isn’t sweating to be fooled. However, Ben is very worried. He wants them to move to an Airbnb for 6 months, but Bailey thinks he’s ridiculous.

Link and Jo’s undeniable flirtation is on full display at the hospital. Teddy notices this while they are all together in the elevator. “Those two need a room,” he tells Owen.
A woman arrives at the hospital demanding to see Maggie. She and her friend drove 400 miles to the surgery. Her friend, Nola, has a tumor that is crushing her heart. Her friend refuses to leave until she sees Maggie. And she doesn’t take no for an answer. She uses the intercom to call Maggie. As Maggie comes downstairs, her friend explains Nola’s situation. Maggie decides to postpone her flight to evaluate Nola’s case.
Nola’s condition begins to deteriorate. She needs surgery ASAP. Maggie calls Winston for help. After seeing Nola’s scans, they decide to have surgery together, just the two of them. They work best when I’m in the operating room. I wish she could be this far out of the hospital.
A 13-year-old boy named Grayson comes in with ulcerative colitis. Richard has been dating Grayson for years. Grayson doesn’t want surgery. He can handle the pain. It turns out that Grayson isn’t taking his meds. He needs to be operated on or he could die.
Schmitt asks Richard to speak as he is thinking about scholarships and positions. Richard is a little surprised that Schmitt waited so long to do this and tells Schmitt to get well as soon as possible. In surgery, Schmitt shows Richard his natural leadership skills with Blue.

Amelia realizes that she will no longer have Sunday dinners without Maggie. She admits to Kai that she has a history of spiraling when people leave her. She will try not to this time. Later, while they’re in bed, Kai is clearly worried about Amelia.
Link is ready to declare his love for Jo and plans a romantic dinner for the two of them. A distraught Jo calls with the news that something is wrong with Luna’s audition. A check will be done and you will go straight home. Link quickly changes his plans at the news. Link comforts Jo the next day as they wait for Luna’s date. When she is called, Jo asks Link to come in with her. They discover that Luna has regressive hearing.
“I couldn’t have had that surgery without you,” Maggie tells Winston after the successful surgery. She tells him that he pushes her to get better. They spend an exciting night together. The next day, Maggie asks Winston to drive her to Chicago. Winston wants Maggie to stay in Seattle. “Stay with me. Fight for us,” he says. Maggie tells Winston that she has been given the opportunity of a lifetime. She can’t refuse. Winston practically calls her Ellis. Later, Catherine tells Maggie that she is so much more. of Ellis’ ambition.

Amelia doesn’t want Kai to go back to Minnesota. Kai drops another bomb on Amelia. The team wants them to set up a lab in London and have already accepted a position there. Understandably, Amelia doesn’t want Kai to leave. She wants Kai to prioritize their relationship. Amelia and Maggie talk about their complicated love lives and bid a heartfelt goodbye.
Winston and Maggie decide to go their separate ways. “My heart is in my work, Winston,” she says. “I love you, but I have to go.” Their lives are going in different directions and they’ve accepted that. “Glad you’re at Gray Sloan,” Jules says to Winston. “I need to learn from you.”
After a random person sent Bailey a photo of Tuck, she accepted Ben’s offer to get away from home for a while. Schmitt treats Grayson to a bar mitzvah, echoing the hospital’s season 2 prom.
Jo is shocked by the news about Luna. Link tries to lighten the mood, but she attacks him. Jo is pulling away from him and Link feels like he’ll never get the chance to tell her how she feels.

A very excited Amelia runs to Kai to tell him that she talked to Teddy about his job at Gray Sloan. Kai isn’t thrilled with the idea. “We work because we’re long distance,” says Kai. They point out that this is the biggest career change of their lives and Amelia is talking about it. “It’s about you and I being in different places in our lives. I love you. This is still true,” Kai tells Amelia. This is another blow to Amelia. She is abandoned again.
Maggie leaves Gray Sloan confident in her decision to take the next step. While in the elevator, she sees the two mothers standing next to her, beaming with pride.
