A trailer was recently released for an upcoming horror film titled Speak with me. This is a fantastic and terrifying film that is a must see for anyone who enjoys watching horror movies! That film was directed by brothers Danny Philip AND Michael Philip and before directing that movie they were YouTube content creators known as RackaRacka Brothers.

Well, it turns out the filmmakers were approached by the heads of DC Studios James Gunn AND Peter Safran, and when they met up with them, the brothers were offered the opportunity to direct a DC film. They ended up turning down that opportunity! During a Instagram livethe directing duo explained:
“‘How was the DC meeting?’ Incredible. The meeting with DC went great. We were offered a project, but decided not to do it at the moment. We wanted to, yes, stick to our source material for the time being. But yeah, we’ll see. In the future, we won’t You never know. You never know. I’m eager to see what James Gunn will do with the universe. I’m excited to see it.”
I love that these two young filmmakers have said no to directing a big DC movie and are more interested in telling their own original stories! This seriously takes discipline and courage. They also probably realize they have a lot more to learn about filmmaking before embarking on a huge $150 million project for a major studio. Or, you know, maybe I’m not a fan of DC.
All I know is that these two filmmakers are making smart decisions with their film careers and will benefit from them in the long run.
