As a teenager, he gave up the shy personality. She gained confidence and started rapping in secret (just playing her music for one of her brothers and her cousin). It wasn’t until 2018 that she got serious about her dreams.
It took years to realize his overnight success.
Glo uploaded his first freestyle to Facebook in 2016. Two years later, his cousin suggested he focus on his music career and record on something other than his phone. Lui entered a local studio and released “14 Freestyle” in December 2018. In 2019 he released his own independent EP, very likely to continuewith State P in 2020.
His path has not been easy. “I never stopped releasing music. I got discouraged many times but I never stopped, I started passing out,” GloRilla told Gillie Da King and Wallo26 on a November 2022 episode of Game worth millions of dollars (h/t AfroTech). “I was losing everything, like my flats, my cars. I was left with almost nothing. It was like the end of last year and the beginning of this year. I was starting over and thought, “Damn, I’m going to have to get back to work.” I was doing shit, surviving senior year, and then the hard part came, and I started getting die hard and living with my friends and shit.
During a local rap showcase in 2021, she met the beatmaker. Hitkidd. the meeting turned out set the tone EP which featured Glo, splendor, carbon k, slimeroni, AND Aleza- five female MCs, together. Glo and Hitkidd would work together again on a song that would change his life.

Not a lot of people represent barrio women and ratchet women. We were in the video having fun, doing that. we normally do, and people like the authenticity, the reality.”
The success of the song caught the attention of several record labels. Glo ended up signing with I Gotti Printed by CMG Records under Interscope. “He IS a different person with a new sound, a new delivery, a new feel and a new movement,” Yo Gotti told XXL. “His potential is unlimited. He doesn’t rap like any other artist. Every time you create a new sound, you get the opportunity to imprint it. And you know what happens next.
“When you think Memphis music, you think Gotti,” Glo told BET, you know what I mean, and three 6 [Mafia] and them. That was the face of Memphis when you think of rap. They had the city in a stranglehold, and you can’t go to the club without hearing some Gotti songs. So that’s been a big growth driver.

We won’t talk to any guys because I felt like it was a distraction. No partying, going out, you know how to save money and exercise,” he said (h/t Urban Islandz).
“I had just ended a relationship and I already said that in my song preview, I had just had a miscarriage and I was like ‘you know, I have to clean up’ because after that I just didn’t feel the same.
