Russell Crowe Reacts to Gladiator Sequel, Says He’s ‘A Little Jealous’

Russell Crowe is open about it gladiator Sequel that Ridley Scott worked on and will be released in November 2024. The actor, who won an Oscar for his role in the said film, is not part of the sequel and says he is “a bit jealous”.

“I mean, look, all I really feel about it is a little jealous, you know? Because obviously I was a much younger man and it was a huge experience in my life,” Crowe shared colliders in an interview. “It’s really something that changed my life. It changed the way people looked at me and what I do for a living and you know I’ve been very lucky to be in a lot of big films, but the legs in this film are amazing.

Crowe continued, “Here it is, it’s 2023, and we shot this movie in 1999. I guarantee you tonight somewhere in the world gladiator is shown on primetime TV. And that kind of longevity doesn’t always come with every film you make, so of course it holds a special place in my heart.

Scott is directing the sequel with Paul Mescal and David Scarpa is writing the screenplay. Barry Keoghan is reportedly in talks to board the sequel to the film.

In the sequel, Mescal plays Lucius, son of Lucilla (Connie Nielsen) and cousin of Commodus (Joaquin Phoenix).
