Have you already seen “Super Mario Bros”? This Means the End and its post-credits scene – Nintendo (Illumination Studios)

‘Super Mario Bros: The Movie’ is an animated film directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, based on the world of Mario video games by Nintendo, recently released in cinemas. The film follow Brooklyn plumbers Mario and Luigi, who are transported to a magical world as they work to fix a water pipe. Mario embarks on an epic quest to find his brother, while Luigi is captured by the evil Bowser, who wants to destroy the Mushroom Kingdom and marry Princess Peach.

Here I present one spoiler alert and details to understand the end of the film. At the end of the plot, Mario arrives at the princess’s castle and joins her to form an alliance with the neighboring kingdom Jungle Kingdom to defeat Bowser.

To participate in the mission, Mario must pass a skill test. The protagonists arrive in Bowser’s kingdom, but are ambushed on Rainbow Road. Mario and Donkey Kong end up in the ocean at the mercy of a Maw-Ray, while the others are captured.

Peach agrees to marry Bowser to avoid hurting Toad. During the wedding, the villain intends to sacrifice all his captives in lava. Mario and Donkey Kong escape and head to Bowser’s castle to prevent the wedding. Peach freezes Bowser with an ice flower, but he partially thaws and activates a Banzai Bill.

Mario deflects the explosive towards the pipe who sent him to the Mushroom Kingdom, causing Browse Castle to move to Brooklyn. Thanks to a Super Star, Mario and Luigi defeat Sfoglia, shrinking it with a mold and locking it in a bottle. In the post-credits scene, a green-stained egg appears in Brooklyn, alluding to the arrival of the lovable dinosaur Yoshi in a sequel to the animated film.

How to understand the first post-credits scene

In the post-credits scene from the movie ‘Super Mario Bros’, Bowser is seen locked in a cage after being defeated by Mario and his friends. With only a piano for company, Bowser plays one last song to protest his failure to achieve his goal of marrying Princess Peach.

However, a toad appears and tells him to shut up, suggesting that he shouldn’t have been left alone with a musical instrument. This scene hints that Bowser will remain a captive character in future Super Mario films.

Second post-credits scene of ‘Super Mario Bros’

After end credits of the movie ‘Super Mario Bros’, the second post-credits scene is introduced, showing a Yoshi egg in the Brooklyn sewers, traversing dimensions and opening with the character’s signature sound. This egg got there because, during the Banzai Bill’s implosion, it was sucked into the interdimensional vortex and pulled into the sewers.

With Bowser imprisoned and Kamek missing, Yoshi becomes the main protagonist and opens the possibility of a film inspired by the Yoshi games, where Bowsy tries to save his father with the help of his faithful servant Kamek.
