Chris Pratt would consider playing Booster Gold in James Gunn’s DCU

With James Gunn planning to introduce Booster Gold into the DC cinematic universe it is building, many fans have made it clear that they would love to see Chris Pratt take on that role. It’s not hard to notice the similarities the character shares with Pratt’s Star-Lord with his charisma and sense of humor.

With this piece of fan-casting constantly being talked about on social media, Rolling Stone decided to ask Pratt in an interview what he thought about the possibility of playing the character.

While Pratt hasn’t had any conversations with Gunn about playing Booster Gold, he’s not ruling out playing the character. He said, “If James thought I was right for it, then you know I should consider it.”

Pratt would be a perfect fit for the role of Booster Gold, but there may be other actors out there that Gunn is eyeing. Gunn has already revealed that he and co-CEO Peter Safran are talking to an actor about the show. We don’t know who he is, but if Pratt hasn’t talked to him, we can probably rule him out.

Speaking earlier about the Booster Gold series project, Gunn said, “This is an absolute fan favorite. It’s about a loser from the future, who uses basic future technology to return to the present and pretend to be a superhero. It’s a series like any other series for HBO Max. Booster Gold is imposter syndrome as a superhero.”

The fact that this Booster Gold project is going to be a series means this is going to be a big commitment and Pratt is a super busy guy. But if Gunn had asked him to do it, it seems Pratt would have put in the effort to make it happen.

Booster Gold has the potential to be a great and entertaining series and here are some details on the character:

Booster Gold, AKA Michael Jon Carter, was a football hero and celebrity in the 25th century who became publicly disgraced after being caught betting on his own games. With his reputation tarnished, Carter stole super-powered relics from the past and traveled back in time, with the plan of becoming a famous superhero. Though he started out being arrogant, Booster eventually became a true hero.

Jamie Reyes is a teenager from El Paso, TX who, one night, fused with a piece of alien technology called the Scarab that was sent to Earth by an ancient cosmic race. The Scarab gives its host extraordinary powers and becomes a suit that endows the user with the ability to fly and a number of other powers. The technology was sent under the guise of helping budding civilizations, but the Scarab’s true mission was to slowly overtake the host’s consciousness and take over the world. Due to the damage caused by the trip, his technology and powers symbiotically merge with Reyes, with Reyes’ consciousness intact. Reyes then uses the suit to fight crime as the Blue Beetle.

Booster and Blue Beetle collaborate frequently in the comics and are close allies, often involved in multiple comic shenanigans. The dynamic duo are also members of the Justice League and are now being tapped to appear in a future JL movie down the road.
