In Army of Darkness, Sam Raimi introduced the idea that there are at least three books of the Necronomicon, aka The Book of the Dead, in the world, and the director of The Rise of the Evil Dead play with that idea in the film.

In a recent interview with SFX Magazine Cronin explained, “There’s a direct connection between what happens in this story and the others. They are in the same world – this is not a parallel universe in any way. It’s happening after Faith’s film and after Sam’s, but in a world where those stories took place.

He went on to talk about The Book of the Dead, saying, “The book that’s in this story is connected to the past. If we look at Army of Darkness, and the fact that there are three books: Sam used one, Faith used one, and I said, ‘You know what, give me the third one, and let me go and tell a story about Evil Dead in that context.”

In the fifth evil Dead film, “a road-weary Beth pays a belated visit to her older sister Ellie, who is raising three children alone in a cramped Los Angeles apartment. The sisters’ reunion is interrupted by the discovery of a mysterious book deep within Ellie’s building, which gives rise to flesh-possessing demons and thrusts Beth into a primal battle for survival as she is faced with the most nightmarish version of motherhood. imaginable.”

The film is the protagonist Alyssa Sutherland (Vikings) AND Lily Sullivan (Picnic at Hanging Rock).Gabrielle Echols (Reminiscence), Morgan Davis (end), AND Nell Fisher (Splendid isolation). The Rise of the Evil Dead is slated to hit theaters on April 21, 2023.
