The trailer in front Hypnotic, the thriller directed by Robert Rodriguez and starring Ben Affleck, was canceled on Monday ahead of its May 12 release. The photo is from a show in progress at SXSW last month.
Ketchup Entertainment acquired the US rights to the big-budget picture earlier this year; The project, which went into production in late 2021 after several pandemic delays and a legal battle, has shut down original financier and US distributor Solstice Studios. Now it will be released on more than 2,000 screens via Ketchup, assisted by several former Solstice executives who will help get the film across the finish line.
Hypnotic was warmly welcomed at SXSW. The film follows a detective (Affleck) who finds himself down a rabbit hole as he investigates a series of reality-altering crimes mysteriously connected to his missing daughter. Aided by a gifted psychic (Alice Braga), he is pursued by a deadly ghost (William Fichtner) who he believes holds the key to finding his daughter.
JD Pardo, Hala Finley, Dayo Okeniyi, Jeff Fahey and Jackie Earle Haley also star.

As for Deadline’s release date and strategy, Affleck is eager to support the project, but he’s also making the rounds for his Nike film Heaven and DCs The Lightning, which are published in April and June respectively. as it looks now Hypnotic starting the next week guardians of the universe part 3 and the same weekend as Sony in love again and focus functions’ Book club the next chapter.
