Christo Jivkov, actor of ‘The Passion of the Christ’, dies at 48 of health complications

Bulgarian actor Christo Jivkov, famous for his role in ‘The Passion of the Christ’ (2004), passed away on April 1 at the age of 48. According to a recent report, his cause of death was health complications from a type of cancer he had been suffering from for some time.

Who was Christo Jivkov?

Christo Jivkov was a Bulgarian actor born November 30, 1976 in the city of Sofia. Recognized for his participation in various international productions, including the famous film “The Passion of the Christ”, directed by Mel Gibson, where he played the apostle John.

She graduated from the Bulgarian National Academy of Arts in 1999, where she studied acting. She began her film career in her native country, appearing in films such as Love.net and Living Legends. However, it was her participation in ‘The Passion of the Christ’ that brought him international fame.

In “The Passion of the Christ” Jivkov played the role of Johnone of the apostles of Jesus, and although his role was not a leading role, his performance was very well received by critics and the film overall was a huge box office hit worldwide.

Since then, he has continued to work on film and television projects, both in Bulgaria and in other countries. He has appeared in films such as ‘The Hour of the Wolf’ and series such as ‘The Ministry of Time’.
