Most Yu-Gi-Oh! fans probably know the name Tyler the Great Warrior. This is the rarest card in the history of the game. Only one copy of this card exists and the story is almost a legend in the community. The story goes back to the early days of Yu-Gi-Oh!a boy named Tyler had terrible cancer and the Make a Wish Foundation helped him get in touch with Konami to create his own Yu-Gi-Oh! paper. The card was Tyler the Great Warrior and only one owned by the boy was made. Fast forward to today, we have a little more history and the card is going up for auction next month!

Tyler Gressle is the full name of the sick young boy and he is still alive. Recently, Yugituber Alex Cimo (Cimoooooooo) had the opportunity to talk to Gressle and learn more about the history of paper. Additionally, Tyler the Great Warrior has been graded (a Near Mint score of 7) and will be auctioned on eBay on April 19th. You can expect this card to be worth a pretty penny. Cimo has created a great documentary that I’ve included below for you to watch.

Gressle is able to tell a good deal of his story in the video. He had been diagnosed with undifferentiated liver sarcoma which is extremely rare and Make a Wish wanted to do something for him. He wanted a Porsche, but he wasn’t 16 yet and didn’t know how to drive so they said he should think of something else. He was a fan of Yu-Gi-Oh! at that moment, and decided he wanted to make a card. She got to help design it a bit as well Yu-Gi-Oh!the creator of Kazuki Takahashi he actually did the art for the paper. In fact, he did two different artworks for Gressle to choose from. If you’ve seen Tyler the Great Warrior’s artwork, you’ve probably wondered about the influences and it’s confirmed that Gressle was a fan of Dragonball Z and so the artwork is very inspired by that anime and characters like Trunks. Gressle was able to watch the card being printed and it was immediately placed in a special case to protect it. Up until this video, the card had never come out of that sleeve. It’s a really cool watch in my opinion. I wish there was more to Gressle’s story, but what we learn is amazing.

How much do you think Tyler the Great Warrior will fetch when it goes up for auction in April?
