The film is directed by Andy Fickmannwho was previously at the helm You are the man, The game plan, Race to Witch Mountain, You again, AND Playing with firefrom a screenplay by Taylor Jenkins Reid AND Alex Jenkins Reidadapted from Taylor Jenkins Reid’s book of the same name.

Here is the synopsis of the story:
“Simu Liu, Phillipa Soo and Luke Bracey star in this modern twist on a classic love story from NY Times bestselling author Taylor Jenkins Reid. Emma and Jesse live the perfect life together, until Jesse disappears in a tragic helicopter crash on their first wedding anniversary. Sounds like an interesting plot. It reminds me of what happened in the movie Thrown away when Tom Hanks’ character returned to civilization and saw that the woman he loved had moved on. It’s so complicated, because when someone assumes their significant other is dead, it’s only natural to move on! So what do you do if they come back? I can’t wait to see this movie. The cast is fantastic and the story is intriguing. Check out the trailer and movie poster below and watch A true love in select theaters April 7 and on VOD April 28.
