A new source has provided insight into Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth’s recent decision to end their marriage.
A source told People that it was “very difficult” for the 47-year-old movie star to accept that she and her ex-partner, 52, are “two very different people”.
Someone close to the pair noted that the aspiring producer “has her hand in a lot of pots” and that Toth “prefers less madness.”
It added: “They spent less and less time together while she was at work.”
More than a decade after tying the knot, the longtime duo “recently discovered that they have fewer interests in common.”

Per Reese’s solemn divorce announcement shared last week, the couple decided to go their separate ways with “great care and consideration.”
A source said the partners were “working” on their issues and it was long before they split.

It was also revealed earlier this week that Reese is “angry” about the end of the marriage.
Reese and Jim married in March 2011 and soon after welcomed their son Tennessee, now 10.
Reese also shares daughter Ava, 23, and son Deacon, 19, with ex-husband Ryan Phillippe.
In the statement, the Big Little Lies actress and talent agent said: “We have some personal news to share… It was with great care and consideration that we made the difficult decision to part ways.
“We have enjoyed so many wonderful years together and move forward with deep love, kindness and mutual respect for all that we have created together.
“Our number one priority is our son and our entire family as we navigate this next chapter.
“These are never easy matters and very personal. We truly appreciate everyone’s respect for our family’s privacy at this time.”

But there’s no confusion: “There’s no drama,” the People insider said. ‘You love [their son] Tennessee and that is their focus. They remain consensual co-parenting.”
The source also provided some background on the marriage, saying, “After breaking up with Jim, their relationship developed quickly. Reese was delighted with his attention and was looking forward to marrying him.”
Not only did Witherspoon recently star in films like Your Place Or Mine alongside Ashton Kutcher, she also worked on the Jennifer Garner series The Last Thing He Told Me, a thriller set in Sausalito, California.
There is also the Reese’s Draper James brand that sells clothing and accessories.
