Neil Bogart changed the music industry forever and Jeremy Giordano plays the brilliant music producer and founder of Casablanca Records in the film gold thread, directed by Neil’s son, Tim Bogart. Hollywood life spoke EXCLUSIVELY with Jeremy about stepping into Neil’s shoes and capturing his legacy.

“I’ve never felt pressured to do a Neil impersonation,” Jeremy said. Hollywood life at the New York exhibition of gold thread at the Roxy Cinema. “There aren’t many photos of him. There are videos, but I was really in charge of capturing the essence of him, and then everything would fall into place after that. It was more like taking that starting position and then racing with it. Tim, our director, has always been very cooperative and encouraging and has recreated this character in the funniest way possible.”
Neil helped launch the careers of KISS, summer woman, village people, and more. In today’s music world, his name is often lost in the shuffle. Jeremy reflected on the importance of bringing Neil’s hits to a modern audience.
“Firstly, I think knowing this man’s legacy is always very important. I really love that their kids can tell that story,” she said. “Two, he was just a singular individual that you don’t really see anymore. No, that wasn’t in his vocabulary. met on his way, until he achieved the things he set out to achieve. Even if it took 5 or 10 years, and even if you had to pretend until you made it and were millions and millions of dollars in debt , nothing would stop you from reaching the highest peaks. I think there is something to be said about attracting at least some of that energy into your life. Maybe not so complete. I don’t think anyone can go that far, especially today because they were the 70’s”.
Jeremy noted that the acts behind Neil have become “timeless”. He added, “He really made his mark on all of these artists, and I don’t think they would have a) achieved what they’ve done completely without him and b) some of them never would have met in the first place. They were the artists, sure, but he was the greatest entertainer.”

Neil sadly passed away at the tender age of 39 from cancer. “A big theme of the film is time and how we try to make the most of it,” Jeremy said. “He just wishes he had more time, and you can’t help but wonder if he had more time, how much more he could have done. Maybe it’s someone you or I would have met before this movie.”
Jeremy recalled seeing a lot of Neil in Tim, the film’s writer-director. “He had a lot of his father’s tendencies, his tenacity and inability to take no for an answer. I got a lot of Neil’s traits directly from Tim,” the actor said. Hollywood life.
Smash student revealed gold thread it was a “collaborative” set where Tim “gave us a script, but said, ‘This is just the guide. You do what you have to do and we leave it open. I’d let the tape roll and we’d go up to 5 minutes to get better and bullshit. A lot of that is in the movie. A solid 20-30% of the film is totally improvised. I really felt like we were contributing a lot and not just reciting lines on a page.” gold thread hits theaters March 31.
