Today we have a behind-the-scenes featurette to watch, in which the director talks about what he wanted to do with this film and describes him as “a Jew Lord of the Ringsbut him [Joaquin Phoenix’s character] he’s just going to his mother’s house.

He went on to say, “I want to put you in the experience of being a loser” and that “if you pumped a ten-year-old full of Zoloft and made him go shopping…it’s like this movie.” So, get ready for a wild movie time!

The story follows his character through multiple decades, and in the process, he seems to start losing his mind. The synopsis reads: “A paranoid man embarks on an epic odyssey to get home to his mother in this bold and ingeniously depraved new film.”
