While James Gunn AND Peter Safran have big plans for the future of the DC Cinematic Universe, one thing that remains unclear is which characters from Zack Snyder’s DCEU will be included in their plans. Jason MomoaAquaman’s future as Aquaman is definitely up in the air, but later this year we’ll see him in action again Aquaman and the lost kingdom.

As for Momoa, he doesn’t seem to think there’s anything to worry about. He’s pretty confident his Aquaman will be involved in the DCU’s future. During a recent interview with Total Film, the actor said:

“Peter [Safran]he is my producer [on Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom], and is a dear friend. I absolutely think Aquaman will be involved in the DCU. He’s on, bro: There’s no one greater than Aquaman!

While you might laugh at his comment that no one is greater than Aquaman, I’ll point out that the first Aquaman film grossed $1.15 billion at the box office and is the highest-grossing DC film. So, in a sense, no one is greater than Aquaman. He went on to talk about the sequel, saying:

But I also hope people are excited to see the new. It is funny. I really like doing comedy. There’s some really fun stuff with Patrick Wilson. I really love it. We had a lot of fun working together. It’s like we’re brothers. There’s a lot of cool stuff going on in that.”

Now, if the sequel makes an epic amount of cash at the box office, you can bet Warner Bros. and DC Studios are going to want to keep that franchise around. Problem is, test screenings for the sequel didn’t go well.

The question is… what does this mean for Lobo!? I know a lot of fans would love to see Momoa play Lobo, which is a character she’s been talking about for years. But no Lobo film has been announced. Momoa had previously talked about a mysterious “dream” project to be done under the mentorship of Gunn and Safran, and fans believe it could be Lobo. But, who knows, maybe his dream project is something else Aquaman movie!
