The X-Files Creator Chris Carter spoke of the possibility of continuing The X-Files franchise for a few years. It’s been five years since the revival wrapped up, and as far as continuing the franchise, we learned in 2020 that an animated spin-off comedy series titled The X Files: Albuquerquewhich Carter is slated to produce for Fox.

That series will revolve around an “office full of misfit agents investigating X-Files cases too wacky or ridiculous or downright stupid for Mulder and Scully to care.” It is explained that these agents are basically the X-Files B-team. That project was developed by Rocky Russo AND Jeremy Sosenko, as writers and executive producers.

We have now learned that there is another X files project in progress. During a recent interview with On the Coast With Gloria Macarenko, Chris Carter talks about a completely different series in the works that is being developed by the director Ryan Coogler (I believe, Black Panther).

Carter shared, “I just spoke to a young man…Ryan Coogler…who’s about to reassemble The X-Files with a diverse cast. So he has his work cut out for him, because we covered so much territory.

This is my first time hearing about it and I’m intrigued as to what the series could be like! There are no other details to share, but as a longtime fan The X-FilesI can’t help but be curious to see what this project could become.

I know many fans would be upset to see the series continue without Agents Mulder and Scully involved, but they can’t be a part of the franchise forever. I’d love to see them return, but if there’s an interesting and unique way to move the franchise forward without them, or in limited capacity, I’d be open to it!

That’s pretty crazy, all these years after a lot of those conspiracy theories that were explored in the original X files the series are now done!
