When yellow jackets Season 2 begins, it’s been 2 months since Jackie died. The survivors now face a winter in full force, with snow and freezing temperatures. Natalie and Travis wake up every morning to find food and Javi. Lottie has a ritual they can participate in before she leaves, including drinking her blood. Natalie isn’t a fan of Lottie’s cult leanings, but Lottie points out that they keep coming back alive.
Shauna isn’t handling Jackie’s death in a healthy way. She spends her days talking to Jackie’s frozen corpse in the meat shed. Jackie’s body managed not to decompose so much in 2 months. Shauna has full conversations with Jackie. When things escalate into their imaginary conversation about Jeff, Jackie’s ear is ripped off.

Shauna doesn’t leave the ear in the meat shed. She keeps Jackie’s ear in her pocket. Still despondent from the accidental poisoning, Misty finds a new friend in theatergoer Crystal. While walking through the snow, Travis thinks he sees Javi’s body, but it turns out to be just a fox. Natalie also helped Coach Ben create a map of the desert. Coach Ben and Natalie can talk openly about how there’s no way Javi is still alive. Natalie agrees with him, but there’s no way she can talk Travis out of it.
There is a brief glimpse of 1998 after the survivors are rescued. They are bombarded with media attention. In the weeks following the rescue, Lottie withdraws into herself. Her parents want to “fix” her. She is institutionalized and forced to undergo electroshock therapy. Lottie is currently hosting a retreat that aims to help people connect with their truest and best selves.
Later, Travis tells Natalie that he knows very well that she thinks Javi is dead. Travis begins having a panic attack. Lottie is the one who manages to dissuade him and he gets turned on in front of her. She tells him that Javi is still alive. This angers Natalie because Lottie is giving Travis false hope. Lottie doesn’t think there is any false hope.

Tai slept tied to Van so he won’t escape during the night. Van points out to Tai that she’s not afraid of him, but Tai thinks maybe she should be. Van writes “I love you” in his blood on Tai’s arm. A bloody declaration of love.
Shauna continues to stare at Jackie’s ear. With food becoming scarcer by the day, hunger taking over and the situation becoming more dangerous by the minute, Shauna eat Jackie’s ear. Let the cannibalism begin.
Natalie meets Lottie
Currently, Shauna is worried about being called in for questioning about Adam’s death. Misty is excited to try to train Shauna during an interrogation. Shauna thinks this will go away because they’ve been careful with cleaning, but Misty has a feeling they’ve been missing something. Poking online about Adam’s death, Misty discovers that city detectives are hard at work investigating. She sees that someone has already looked at Adam’s bank account and realizes he’s looking for Shauna.
Clearly, Shauna has always had a knack for holding on to things she shouldn’t. She even has a stash of Adam’s things, including her keys and license. She calls Jeff and tells him they need to go to Adam’s art studio to make sure there’s nothing that could lead the police back to her. When they arrive, it’s basically a shrine for Shauna. They destroy everything.

Speaking of shrines, Tai’s wife is still reeling from the discovery of Tai’s shrine, which included Biscuit’s severed head. Simone tells Tai to get help, threatening to go to the press if she doesn’t. Later, Tai finds the blood altar he created and vows to improve it. Don’t kill the new dog!
Misty goes looking for Natalie at the motel and realizes she has been kidnapped. When Natalie wakes up, she’s tied to a bed. Lisa, one of the participants, enters with that wild symbol around her neck. Natalie knows exactly who kidnapped her: Lottie. Natalie takes the opportunity to escape by stabbing Lisa with a fork and running away. Natalie meets Lottie, who claims to have a message from Travis. This one for Natalie on the way.
Shauna and Jeff burn the rest of Adam’s stuff on the grill. They’re not the most complete duo because when her daughter is curious, she finds the remains of Adam’s license in the ashes.
