Shazam! Fury of the Gods it didn’t perform well at the box office with its $30.5 million opening. It fell far short of what the studio had expected, and it appears the film faces a large financial loss. The film cost the studios $110 million to make, and another $100 million was spent on marketing.

There are many Zack Snyder fans celebrating the fact that the Shazam! the sequel is a failure. Why did they want the film to fail? Apparently in revenge against Warner Bros. for abandoning Snyder’s DC Universe. Zechariah Levi I spotted this on Twitter with a fan who wrote to him:

“There is no denying that there are currently many Snyder fans who are delighted with the failure of your film and many of them wish that everything to come would fail just so they would not continue with their director’s films.”

Levi responded by addressing hatred from Snyder fans, but believes the film’s branding was the bigger problem. He wrote in response:

“This is also true. Sad but true. How much that actually affects the box office is anyone’s guess. But I think the biggest problem we’re having is marketing. This is a perfect family movie, yet many families are unaware of it. Which is just a shame.

I’m not even sure if the marketing was the problem. WB marketed the film to hell and I think people were well aware that Shazam! it’s a movie the whole family could watch together. Obviously, there was no interest in this. Levi continued clarify his thoughts on Snyder fans saying:

“I have no issues with Snyder fans. Heck, I’ve been to almost every one of his movies myself. My problem is with anyone who wants to destroy something, simply because it’s not what they want. This comes from hate, not love.

Makes a good point there. I don’t understand all the hate, but it’s out there! It seems to go against all the reasons they say they love Snyder’s movies. Regardless, I’m pretty sure we won’t see another Shazam! movies for a while, if ever. Shazam!: Fury of the Gods director David F. Sandberg he’s definitely looking to move forward and has no plans to direct another superhero movie anytime soon. He said:

“On Rotten Tomatoes I just got my lowest critics score and highest audience score in the same film. I didn’t expect a critical repeat of the first film, but I was still a little surprised because I think it’s a good film . Alright .”

“As I’ve been saying for some time, I can’t wait to get back to horror (as well as trying new things). After six years of Shazam! I’m definitely done with superheroes for now. One thing I was really looking forward to is disconnecting from the superhero talk online. A lot of these things stress me out so much and it will be nice not to have to think about it anymore.”
