The popular manga God’s Drops is getting a live-action series adaptation on Apple TV+ and reportedly debuting in a month! This is the first time I’ve heard of this project happening and it’s almost done and ready to share with fans!

The story was created by Tadashi Agì AND Shu Okimoto and the manga follows a wine critic and his foster brother who must compete against each other to determine who will inherit their father’s estate, a wine collection featuring 13 heaven-blessed wines.

Shizuku Kanzaki “is the son of Yutaka Kanzaki, a recently deceased world-renowned wine critic. To appropriate his father’s legacy, a vast collection of wines featuring some of the rarest labels of the past 30 years, he must find 13 wines, known as the “Twelve Apostles” and heaven sent “Drops of God” which his father described in his will. But despite him being an only child, Shizuku is not alone in this unique wine hunt. He has a competitor. Issei Tomine, a renowned young wine critic, was recently adopted into the Kanzaki family and is also vying for this very rare award.”

The official synopsis for the live-action series reads: “The story involves a woman who discovers that her former father has left her the world’s largest wine collection in his will. But, to reclaim her inheritance, she must compete against a Japanese man that his father regarded as a son and may have been more’.

God’s Drops will consist of eight episodes and the cast is led by Tomohisa Yamashita with the French actress Fleur Geffrier.

While the series will be released on Apple TV+ in the United States, Hulu will oversee distribution of the show in Japan, while Legendary Television will handle global distribution outside of France and Japan. Legendary Television helped produce this adaptation with help from Dynamic Television, France Televisions and Hulu Japan.
