Irreverent red band trailer for comedy JOY RIDE

A new road trip-style comedy is coming this July from Lionsgate called Ride of joy. Two best friends return to Asia in search of one of their birth parents and things continue to go awry. The story comes from Cherry Chevapravatdumrong, Teresa HsiaoAND Adele Lim with the former two writing the screenplay and the latter directing the film.

Ride of joy stars Ashley Park, Sherry Cola, Stephanie HsuAND Sabrina Wu. You can watch a new Red Band trailer showing how Audrey (Park) and Lolo (Cola) become friends and glimpses of some of the tough times they’ll go through during their journey. One such tough time is trying to pass himself off as a K-POP star.

From the producers of Neighbors and co-writer of Crazy Rich Asians, JOY RIDE stars Ashley Park, Sherry Cola, Academy Award nominee Stephanie Hsu and Sabrina Wu. The hilarious and unapologetically explicit story of identity and self-discovery centers on four unlikely friends who embark on a once-in-a-lifetime international adventure. When Audrey’s (Ashley Park) business trip to Asia goes sideways, she enlists the help of Lolo (Sherry Cola), her cheeky childhood best friend who also happens to be a mess; Kat (Stephanie Hsu), her college friend turned Chinese soap opera star; and Deadeye (Sabrina Wu), Lolo’s eccentric cousin. Their epic no-holds-barred experience becomes a journey of bonding, friendship, belonging, and wild debauchery that reveals the universal truth of what it means to know and love who you are.

Chevapravatdumrong, Hsiao and Lim are also producing Ride of joy as well as Seth Rogen, Eve Goldberg, James WeaverAND Josh Fagen. Other stars for road trip madness include Ronny Chieng (Crazy Rich Asians), Desmond Call (The Falcon and the Winter Soldier), Alexander Hodge (Insecure), AND Chris Pang (Crazy Rich Asians). you can watch Ride of joy in theaters July 7.
