The Academy Awards should recognize and celebrate all those who work in creating movies that entertain audiences and have, for some reason, ignored the stunt men and women of the industry. It’s crazy to me that the academy still hasn’t added an Oscar category for best stunt, these talented people deserve recognition!

John Wick franchise manager, Chad Stahelskihe was just talking about it, saying, “Is there one for every other department but ours? It’s a no-brainer to me. Really, there are wives’ tales and rumors and myths about why there isn’t a category, with which The Academy was mad at someone about something. As far as I know, it’s all bullshit. We want to be recognized because we’re one of the top 11 departments. We’re in every fucking trailer. Most movies are sold for what we do.
Well, now a petition has been started to finally help the Academy create a stunt category! Check out the petition and then sign the petition!
Mission Impossible. Star Wars. The Avengers. The fast and the furious. The Lord of the Rings. The raid. The matrix.
Crazy Maximus. John Wick. Bond James Bond.
These are just a few of the films and franchises that have seen stunt performers showcase their talents and literal lives since the inception of cinema for the benefit of the film industry, thrilling audiences around the world for generations. By helping Hollywood studios and production companies gross billions upon billions of dollars worldwide, stunt performers and women have enriched the industry both creatively and monetaryly, seeing little or no prestige or recognition for their work. critical, essential, and industry-changing.
It’s time to change that.
By signing this petition, you agree that the time has passed for the award and the category for The best stunts be created by the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences and implemented starting with the 2024 Academy Awards.
We are proposing that the nominee(s) for each award be the stunt coordinator(s) for the nominated films and/or as the production of the eligible and nominated films deems appropriate.
By doing so, this will not only create a vibrant and exciting awards show that will not only help modernize the Oscars, but it will also create new excitement and excitement from the public, as well as awareness for the awards themselves – and there’s no one to complain. of this!
